ORAL HYGIENE AND PROPHYLAXIS
Oral hygiene is essential when it
comes to guaranteeing healthy teeth and gums over the years (whether
one’s own natural teeth or prostheses with bridges and crowns).
Oral hygiene treatments include:
• plaque removal and tooth cleaning, manually or using
mechanical devices;
• whitening with baking soda, useful for removing smoke and
coffee stains;
• teaching of home oral hygiene techniques to improve our
ability to keep teeth clean (like brushing those areas we usually
ignore unintentionally; how to use a toothbrush and floss).
The
hygienist will teach children how to use their toothbrush and
toothpaste to get good results and parents how to pay more
attention to their children’s oral hygiene.
