CONSCIOUS
SEDATION
Conscious
sedation is a technique recommended for emotional patients, both
adults and children.
The
patient, under the careful supervision of an anaesthesiologist, is
sedated for the time needed to perform surgery. The patient
breathes a totally harmless aerosol gas through a nasal mask and
so becomes sedated (equivalent to a couple of strong cups of
chamomile), but remains conscious throughout. This means the
patient can open or close his/her mouth and do whatever the
dentist requires without fear.
The session is thus stress-free and causes no negative emotions
for the patient.
